Diriyah is set to become a meeting point for art and technology this autumn as Diriyah Art Futures unveils Continuum 26, an exhibition bringing together a new generation of digital and new media artists.
Running from Thursday, 3 September to Saturday, 7 November 2026, the second edition of the annual exhibition will showcase new works created by participants in Diriyah Art Futures’ Emerging New Media Artists Program. The artists have spent the past year developing their projects with support from the centre’s education, production and exhibition teams.
What To Expect at Continuum 26
Continuum 26 will feature a mix of immersive installations, light and sound works, moving image, virtual and mixed reality, and projects exploring artificial intelligence.
The exhibition takes its name from the idea of creativity as an ongoing process, with different artistic ideas coming together while continuing to evolve. That theme is reflected in the works, which explore the increasingly blurred line between the physical world and digital experiences.
Continuum 26 is organised around four broad themes. The first is memory as a living process, looking at personal, collective, environmental and cultural memory. The second is systems of power and optimisation, exploring technology, decision-making and control.
The third is the body, perception and presence, which considers sensory experiences, embodiment and relationships between different species. The final one is repetition, rhythm and collective experience, which examines automation, labour and human endurance.
Rather than being a traditional gallery exhibition, the programme offers visitors a chance to experience how emerging artists are using technology as part of their creative language. The result is a mix of visual, physical and sensory experiences that invite audiences to interact with ideas as much as the artworks themselves.
Diriyah Art Futures is the first new media arts centre in the Middle East and North Africa. Its focus is on bringing art, science and technology together. Continuum 26 continues that approach while giving emerging artists a platform to experiment, develop new ideas and present their work to the public.
