Diriyah is set to welcome another high-profile addition to its growing hospitality scene. The Oberoi Sukoonvilas Wadi Safar is expected to open in late 2026. Designed as a retreat surrounded by the landscapes of Wadi Safar, the new property will add another option for those looking to experience the area through a more secluded and luxurious stay.
The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar is the first luxury hotel in Riyadh, about a half-hour drive northwest of the capital. Its standout features include Najdi-inspired architecture, a natural setting, and high-quality dining and wellness. It is also located just 45 minutes from King Khalid International Airport.
Villas & Rooms At The Resort
The design also takes cues from the surrounding valleys, with earthy tones, natural materials and mud walls that help keep the villas cool. A central waterbody runs through the resort, surrounded by gardens housing local species of plants.
There will be 60 villas, ranging from 87 to 340 square metres. Each comes with a private terrace or pool, separate living and dining spaces and views of the gardens, water and surrounding wadi. Interconnecting villas will also be available for families and larger groups.

Dining With a Desert Setting
Food is a major part of the experience, with several restaurants and cafes planned across the resort. Yatra will focus on contemporary Indian cuisine. Meanwhile, Linnet will serve sweet and savoury creations, alongside Indian tea rituals and Arabic coffee.
At Beyla, guests can expect all-day dining spanning Italian, French, Japanese, Arabic and Indian flavours, with live cooking stations, sharing dishes and outdoor seating.
A Place to Slow Down
The resort’s wellness offering, Asmi by Oberoi, will centre on treatments, yoga, mindfulness, nutrition and breathing practices. This makes the hotel more than just a luxury stay. Instead, it will offer guests a space to switch off and spend some time away from the pace of the city.
There will also be plenty to explore nearby. Guests can visit At-Turaif, the Royal Equestrian and Polo Club or the Royal Golf Club, home to a 27-hole Greg Norman-designed course. The resort’s concierge will be able to arrange transport and experiences around Diriyah.

With its combination of tranquil surroundings, high-end hospitality and proximity to Diriyah’s cultural attractions, The Oberoi Sukoonvilas Wadi Safar is shaping up to be an interesting new address for visitors from Riyadh. Its expected opening in Q4 2026 will add another reason to explore Wadi Safar, as Diriyah continues to develop into one of Saudi Arabia’s most distinctive lifestyle destinations.
