New rules have been introduced for businesses using motorcycles to transport goods commercially, bringing the fast-growing sector under a clearer regulatory framework.
The Transport General Authority (TGA) has moved commercial motorcycle deliveries from a regulatory testing phase into a fully established framework. The changes will give delivery companies clearer operating guidelines while improving safety, reliability, and customer service as the sector continues to grow.
For customers, the changes are largely about creating a more organised delivery system behind the scenes. The new regulations would cover driver and motorcycle registration, training, monitoring, equipment, and safety standards.
There are also requirements for larger delivery fleets. Businesses must appoint one Saudi operations supervisor for every 50 motorcycles used to transport goods for third parties. This becomes important as companies expand their bike fleets.
According to the TGA, the framework should also encourage investment and innovation across the delivery sector. Businesses will have more room to develop new services and operating models, while keeping standards in place.
