Northeast Riyadh is set for a major transformation, with a new master plan covering around 456 square kilometres. Earlier, The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced the completion of the master plan.
Northeast Riyadh’s strategic location puts it in a strong position for future growth, as it connects King Khalid International Airport with key routes including Dammam Road, Al-Sulai Valley, and Al-Janadriyah Road.
For residents, the plan is focused on making everyday life more convenient. New neighbourhoods are to be designed to bring homes, essential services, and community facilities closer together. The phased development also aims to create more connected, well-planned communities as this part of the capital continues to grow.

The new plan is designed to create a more balanced mix of homes, businesses, leisure spaces, and natural areas across Northeast Riyadh. For residents, that could mean more green spaces, recreational areas, and daily amenities woven into the neighbourhoods rather than concentrated only in a few parts of the city.
As Northeast Riyadh is one of the city’s key future growth areas, the plan also places emphasis on protecting natural valleys while creating a more connected urban environment. The aim is to support the area’s growth while making it a more comfortable and liveable place for residents.
With Riyadh having officially joined the Global Quality of Life Index, anticipating future needs of residents is becoming one of the city’s top priorities. Urban plans are all about balancing the daily needs of residents and enhanced quality of life with a sustainable model.
According to the commission, the master plan for Northeast Riyadh is still in the early stages of planning and has not yet transitioned to a full-scale project to be executed.
Going ahead, planning phases and detailed plans for the location will follow, in coordination with relevant authorities. Updates in the future will be announced through the official channels of the RCRC and other authorities.
