Al Muzahimiyah Desert
If your idea of the perfect weekend is fewer people and more open space, head towards Al Muzahimiyah. There is not a long list of organised activities here, and that is exactly the point. You come because it is quiet. Wide open desert, rolling hills and very little development make it one of the best places near Riyadh to simply switch off for a while.
It is especially popular with campers, photographers and anyone who enjoys driving off-road, but you do not need an itinerary to enjoy it. Sometimes sitting in complete silence for an hour is reason enough to make the journey.

King Khalid Royal Reserve
King Khalid Royal Reserve offers another side of Saudi Arabia’s desert landscape. The reserve is a reminder that the Saudi desert is not just endless sand. Depending on the time of year, you will find native plants, wildlife and wide open landscapes that surprise people who assume every desert looks the same.
It is less about adventure and more about slowing down.
