Running in Riyadh in the middle of summer might not sound like the obvious way to spend a Saturday morning, but that is exactly what makes Summer Splash different. Instead of trying to stay cool, participants are encouraged to embrace the heat with splash zones, water games and plenty of opportunities to get soaked along the way.
Returning to ROSHN Front on Saturday, July 25, the community event swaps serious race-day competition for splash zones, interactive water stations and plenty of opportunities to cool down along the route. Rather than chasing personal bests, participants are encouraged to enjoy the experience, making it just as suitable for families and first-time runners as it is for regular runners.
Organised by Race Arabia, Summer Splash offers two distances. The 5km race is open to participants aged 12 and above, while the 2km Fun Run and Walk welcomes all ages, giving families and groups of friends an easy way to take part together. It is designed to be an accessible event where taking part matters far more than crossing the finish line first.
Every participant will receive a race pack that includes a drawstring bag, T-shirt, race bib, water blaster and sunglasses. Finishers will also take home a commemorative medal and receive a digital certificate after completing the course.
The event begins at 5am at ROSHN Front, with race kit collection taking place at Barn’s Coffee in Park Avenue on Thursday, July 23, from 3pm to 9pm, and Friday, July 24, from 2pm to 7pm. Organisers have confirmed that the course map will be released closer to race day, so participants are encouraged to keep an eye on the latest event updates before heading out.
Summer Splash has become one of Race Arabia’s most popular seasonal events because it offers something a little different from the traditional fun run. Between the splash zones, music and relaxed atmosphere, it feels more like a community event than a race where everyone is focused on the clock. It is also the sort of event that makes running feel less intimidating, encouraging people to take part simply because it looks like fun.
Following the Riyadh event, Summer Splash will head to ROSHN Waterfront in Jeddah on August 1, giving participants in both cities the chance to take part. Registration for both events is now open through Race Arabia.
